Dr. Petra Deeter is an award-winning film director and a social impact builder. As a filmmaker, she has made films in many genres, focusing on using the visual story medium to tell the stories that matter. As a survivor of child abuse and domestic violence, she is passionate about creating social impact to advocate for victims. Her film “Reborn”, about domestic violence, won over 2-dozen international awards and screened at festivals and theatres around the world. The film influenced the new coercive control legislation in California. With her latest documentary “Parental Alienation: The Aftermath”, she won Best Director at the 2022 Golden State Film Festival, and Best Education Film Award at the 2022 Universe Multicultural Film Festival. She is the founder of Victim To Hero Institute where she provides resources and support for victims of dysfunctional family dynamics, raises public awareness, and champions system and social changes.
